Highlights of the Year 2017

Reflecting on the past year, I have to say it’s been a slice. I felt I should document my highlights of the year 2017.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride of events, trips and milestones. Here’s a super brief overview.

Online Shop Launch

I launched my online shop! It was a huge step for me. Overcoming the fear of failure taking such a big step. It also meant commitment. Did I have it? Would I be able to take rejection? How would I react? While the online shop and marketing it consumed most of my year, I found it helped me learn and refine a lot.

FFWD Advertising and Marketing Week 2017

For the second year in a row, I designed the look for this amazing event, working with some wonderful people. I attended some of the events during this week and it was “as advertised”. Amazing.

Watercolour Painting

This past year really going me going with the watercolours. I love following amazing talent on Instagram, learning from them, and gaining inspiration from them. This led to watercolour Youtube video tutorials and some cute unofficial watercolour products.

5 Week India Trip

This was a nice “break” in the year. I had not been on a trip of this length anywhere, let along India, my country of origin. Took my babygirl, who had a ball, thanks to some friends who made her stay very comfortable. Met some amazing people and created beautiful memories. Coming back was bittersweet. Check out my Instagram account for some of my experiences from my trip.

10 Year Wedding Anniversary

Also celebrated 10 years with my “other half”, Richard Baker. Marriage is hard work. Through all the good and bad times, the growing and our precious babies, I couldn’t be more sure about the blessing God has given me.

Art Showcase

One of my t-shirts from the onlie shop was chosen to participate in a lettering showcase, Swash & Serif 4, held in Toronto.

Google Paycheck

The year ended with my first check from Google. Thanks to the Youtube video tutorials, I made a few dollars. It may have not been a million bucks, but I sure felt like a million bucks.

I was pleased with how 2017 went. A good mix of small and big celebrations. At the end of every year, I come to an inner realization of “growth”. Who I am at the end of the year is not who I was at the beginning of the year. Our experiences, failures and choices change us. Life is change, life is beautiful.

Here’s to many more experiences, failures and growth.
